ROCK WOOL SANDWICH PANELS consist of two galvanised and pre-lacquered steel sheets with thicknesses of 0.38 mm to 0.60 mm and a Rock Wool core with a density of 100 kg/m3, assembled and bonded on two production lines, one continuous and the other discontinuous. The characteristics of our ROCK WOOL SANDWICH PANELS are closely linked to their mineral origin, given that they are manufactured from volcanic rock. Thanks to their multidirectional fibrous structure with still air inside, they are good acoustic and thermal insulators. In addition, because of their mineral origin, they are non-combustible, which makes them an ideal material for passive fire protection in construction.
USES OF ROCK WOOL SANDWICH PANELS
ROCK WOOL SANDWICH PANELS are mainly used in modular construction, prefabricated houses, industrial and agricultural-livestock buildings and, in special cases, also in traditional construction. The most common uses of ROCK WOOL SANDWICH PANELS in construction are the following:
As thermal insulation in roofs and façades, as well as in false ceilings and in air chambers of sanitary floor slabs.
As acoustic insulation in roofs and façades, as well as in interiors for partitions.
As passive fire protection in roofs and façades, and also in interiors for partitions and cladding, such as for the compartmentalisation of fire sectors.
INSTALLATION OF ROCK WOOL SANDWICH PANELS
ROCK WOOL SANDWICH PANELS are simple to install on any metal, wood, brick or concrete support thanks to their reduced weight and easy assembly, both in roof panels and in façade panels, with symmetrical joints and without thermal bridges.
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
ROCK WOOL SANDWICH PANELS are very environmentally friendly. For manufacturing the metal sheets, up to 20% of the material used is recycled, and for the Rock Wool, up to 90%. At the end of their life, both materials are almost 100% recyclable, meaning that they can be reused in the manufacture of new products.
ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF ROCK WOOL SANDWICH PANELS
The main advantages of using ROCK WOOL SANDWICH PANELS compared to PUR/PIR SANDWICH PANELS are the following, among others:
They provide better acoustic insulation. This makes the ROCK WOOL PANELS the ideal solution for façades and roofs in noisy areas, as well as for interior partitions in all types of buildings for public use, homes, etc.
They offer better behaviour under fire exposure, given that both the sheet and the rock wool are non-combustible and are suitable for sectorisation within buildings.
The main disadvantages of using ROCK WOOL SANDWICH PANELS compared to PUR/PIR SANDWICH PANELS are the following, among others:
They are heavier per m2 and are therefore heavier for transport and installation.
Their thermal insulation is lower than that of PUR/PIR foams, therefore requiring a greater thickness to provide the same thermal insulation.
